Hi folks,

We've survived the Ides of March (hopefully I speak for everyone, here)
and we are rapidly approaching the first week of April. Our April
meeting will be held next week, I hope to see you there! Also please
feel free to pass this message on to anyone you feel may be interested;
we'd love to continue to see new faces turn up to see what it's all
about. Members of UCC, PLUG, Port-80 etc are all welcome along too!

Andrew S.

6:45 Meeting commences: this month presented & sponsored by AUUG.

This month's topic is presented by Davyd Madeley, and is
entitled "Secrets of the Pyramids: an Introduction to Cairo".

    Cairo is a device-independent, platform-independent 2D rendering
package for pretty graphics. Cairo makes it possible to render
antialiased, vector graphics on your screen, to a printer or a file
using only a single code path.

The talk will cover what Cairo is, the premise behind how Cairo
works, an overview of how to get started using Cairo in your
application, and given enough monkeys: what you can build with
    Cairo.

Davyd works as a software engineer for Fugro Seismic Imaging here in
Perth. He is also a GNOME developer and the maintainer of GNOME
Applets. He is trying to complete his Bachelors of Electronic
Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Western
Australia. He has prettier desktop wallpapers than you.

7:30 Migration back to the Pub for beer, soft drinks, sandwiches,
Q&A, and General Discussion of current IT issues.

 DIRECTIONS:
The Moon and Sixpence pub is located on Murray Street, between Queen
St and William St. It is within easy walking distance of the Busport
or Perth Train Station. If you are driving, Murray St is one way with
vehicle entry available from Milligan St. Parking is available from
one of several City of Perth carparks located along Murray St. (See
the maps at http://www.neep.com.au/first_wednesday/ for more info.)

Please pass this message on to any other sysadmins that you know who
might be interested in attending. This permission to forward this
message overrides the usual SAGE-AU mailing list disclaimer or any
other that may appear below. The WA monthly meetings are jointly
sponsored by SAGE-AU and AUUG, with this month being sponsored by
AUUG. Non-members are allowed to attend up to two meetings before
being requested to join SAGE-AU and/or AUUG.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

Regards,

prk & Andrew S, for SAGE-AU. Steve L, for AUUG.
